The Two Brothers


- Heung-bu and Nol-bu(Korea folktale)
 There was two brothers in a village. The elder brother's name was "Nol-bu" and the younger brother's name was "Heung-bu." The two brothers' father had a lot of money, but he passed way soon. When the father died, he said, "I want two of you to keep good relationship." The two brothers said, "Yes" to his father.
 However the elder brother, "Nol-bu", was greed person, so he wanted to get all of his father's properties. He and his wife said to his brother like this, "Get out of here. This house and money are mine." The younger brother, "Heung-bu" and his wife were kicked out of the house. He and his wife bore 10 children after kicked out. His family circumstances was not good, so he went to the brother's house. He beg and said, "Oh, brother I have 10 children. They have no rice to eat. Please help us." He beg and beg again. However, Nol-bu didn't accept his brother's request. Nol-bu's wife also neglected Heung-bu.
 One day, there was a nest on the roof at Heung-bu's house. One of the swallow fell down from the nest, and the leg of the bird was broken. Heung-bu found that the swallow and cured the bird. After 2 months later, the swallow visited  Heung-bu's house again and gave seeds of gourd. Heung-bu kept the seeds safely and then planted the seeds on the roof. The gourds grew. Heung-bu and his wife split the gourds in two. Surprisingly, there were a lot of money, clothes and foods in the gourds.
 On the other hand, Nol-bu heard the rumor. He found a swallow and broke its leg artificially and then treated it. As same as Heung-bu, the swallow gave seeds of gourd. After gourds became bigger, Nol-bu expected he got a lot of money from them. He also split the gourds in two. Suddenly, monsters came out of the gourds and broke the Heung-bu's house. The monsters deprived all of the money. Nol-bu regretted his behavior and beg to his brother. Although Nol-bu sorrowfully requested, Heung-bu never accepted.
 Heung-bu suddenly became a rich person. He became a parvenu. He didn't know how to manage money and properties. In addition, he didn't accept his brother, Nol-bu. He spent a lot of money gambling. Finally, he became poor again. The two brothers are selfish and greed. At the end, two of them spoiled each other.
